Why ZEFES?
P&G products distribution entails a movement of about 3 millions loads globally and 500.000 in Europe. While our preferred solution for long distance transport is Intemrodal, we still have a significant part of long distance freight shipments executed via road only. In order to meet our 2030 and 2040 Net Zero targets we will need a technological solution to achieve zero emissions for long distance freight vehicles.
What in ZEFES?
In Zefes we will design and demonstrate the use of Electric Double trailers vehicles with VOLVO as an efficient and elegant solution to bring intermodal boxes in and out of Intermodal terminals. Specifically we will do this one the route Amiens-Dourges and Amiens-Zeebrugge. The first one all within the Region of Nord of France, the second one requiring the crossing of the Belgium-France Border
Also with Ford we will test Hydrogen powered truck on the Main Italian Highway connection Milan to Rome, as we transfer P&G Loads between our Pomezia (Roma) and Agnadello (Brescia) sites.
“The ZEFES-projects bring together some of the best innovators in Europe in the area of zero emissions vehicles with some of the best logisticians. This will enable us to combine the best technologies with the best operational strategies in order to achieve full decarbonization of freight transport in Europe and the world.”
