Plastic Omnium is a major and global Automotive Tier 1 supplier. Plastic Omnium is a family-led independent group that operates globally, with 150 production plants in 25 countries and 43 R&D centers. Plastic Omnium operates in five main business areas: (i) exterior systems, (ii) fuel tanks and after-treatment (SCR) systems, (iii) assembly of modules, (iv) lightning technology and (v) hydrogen and fuel cell systems for the automotive industry. The Group is firmly committed to technology transformation and sustainable mobility.

As a leader in clean technologies, the Group develops innovative hydrogen solutions for emission-free electric mobility. The company has been involved in the research and development of hydrogen storage and fuel cell solutions for more than 10 years, supporting the development of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV). Plastic Omnium’s ambition is to consolidate its leadership position as a global supplier of H2 solutions for the mobility sector.

Plastic Omnium has the ambition to become worldwide leader in hydrogen mobility by 2030. At our New Energies site in Wels, the team develops a series-ready fuel cell system for heavy-duty vehicles (trucks, buses, etc.) as well as the manufacturing processes required for series production. The ZEFES consortium and project goals are a great opportunity to show the maturity of our systems and further investigate in efficiency improvements to support the demonstration of clean European transportation.

What in ZEFES?

Within the project the durability of our FC module will be demonstrated based on real driving cycles. In cooperation with other partners from research and industry further technological improvements will be elaborated to increase performance and adjustment to different use cases and their requirements.
